File In Use!

File In Use!

Postby feelinLucky » Mon Oct 29, 2018 10:04 pm

Stan,

I can't delete a text file once loaded into EL. I get a "File In Use error". Why does EL lock txt files? Those are the only type files I have trouble with. Is this a java garbage collection problem or your code is not releasing the file.

Thanks

Could be a bug in Expert Lotto. How do you load the text file into the application?

They are loaded via the "Insert Ticket File into the Package" icon or [F6].

Thanks

I tried inserting a text file into Package and I could delete or edit that file without any problems.
Is this happening every time?

I should have provided more details. I have external processes for index files. I normally load an index file into EL for removing dups and sorting, then the file is re-saved for processing again outside of EL. This is when EL locks the file. Sometimes the file is locked after the first load or on the subsequent load, but it is consistent. And I must say that it really breaks my work flow.

If you are trying to reproduce the problem, save a package as ticket indexes then make some changes to the save file and re-load it one or two times then try to delete it. Do it a few times!! By the way, the only way to move forward when the file is locked is restarting EL.

Thanks for looking into the problem.

Thanks for the clarification. I think I found the problem so the next app update will hopefully fix it.
