Stan,
Now we have the '1-0' option in the Number Distances filter. What sense does it make? There is no lottery available that would have a position 0.
Creating a kind of artificial distance between the position 1 and arithmetical 0 creates an illusion of improvement, but it only duplicates the action of the Numbers at Position filter for position 1.
For example: if we select option 1-0 = 2 and filter 'Remove', it will remove from the package all tickets with number 2 at the first position. If we select 1-0 = 1, 2, 3, 4 and filter 'Accept', only the combinations with the numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 at the postion 1 will be left in the package. The same can be done with the Numbers at Positions filter.
The Number Distances filter is actually the number differences filter, so the addition of "6-1" or '5-1" option is quite appropriate. But there are other differences between positions that the filter cannot deal with.
In 6/xx lotto there are 15 differences between numbers: 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 1-6, 2-3, 2-4, 2-5, 2-6, 3-4, 3-5, 3-6, 4-5, 4-6, 5-6.
And 10 differences in 5/xx lottery: 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 2-3, 2-4, 2-5, 3-4, 3-5, 4-5.
By including these differences you could make this filter complete and more effective.
The difference between the last and first number in combination can be counted also in a clockwise fashion from the last number to the first. So, if we have a combination 15, 18, 20, 36, 37, and 40 in 6/49 game , the difference counted in a typical way is 25, but counted in the clockwise fashion is 24. Just a different approach, which might help to filter more tickets out.
