Any tips for speed?

Any tips for speed?

Expertlotto is a model of state-of-the-art in programming, speed when considering present technology level, and user - friendliness . I don’t think that it is possible making it work faster by optimizing code further. So are there any tips or tricks making it faster in any way, including hardware, when doing a lot of filtering (eg. a lot of compound filters etc.)

Fast processing could depend on order of applied filters. The filters can be divided to so called "fast acting" (SUM, STDDEV, O/E etc..) and the other (slow filters such as WN History Filter). Thus in case of compound filters you can reach fast processing of package arranging filters from the fastest to the slowest applying firstly the fastest filters when the package is large.

- use the latest version of java (version 1.6 will be available soon, a stable preview version is already available: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/ea.jsp)
- user server java runtime (about 10% performance boost), search this forum for "-server" for more details
- upgrade your cpu, the more power you have the faster the filtering will be. also if you buy a dual core cpu you'll be able to leave expert lotto running in background in full speed and work on something else at the same time (e.g. another copy of expert lotto:)
