Match in file

Postby Paulo » Wed Jan 03, 2007 2:04 pm

Hi Stan,

I like to filter a game to have only 3 numbers of EACH LINE of a FILE.

Example

file.txt

01 02 03 04 05 06 - leave only 3 number in package
01 02 03 04 05 07 - leave only 3 number in package
01 02 03 04 05 08 - leave only 3 number in package
01 02 03 04 05 09 - leave only 3 number in package
01 02 03 04 05 10 - leave only 3 number in package
01 02 03 04 06 07 - leave only 3 number in package
01 02 03 04 06 08 - leave only 3 number in package
01 02 03 04 06 09 - leave only 3 number in package
01 02 03 04 06 10 - leave only 3 number in package
...

You can help me?

Thanks
Paulo

filters - match file - match 3 - matching tickets leave
you must also enter the number of lines in your matching file into the 'min' column in the filter window.

but be careful with your matching file as there might be no tickets to meet this condition.

Match File and Match Numbers Filters

Postby sliver » Sun Apr 01, 2007 1:14 pm

Hi Stan,

I'm having some trouble figuring out how to work the match file filter.

I have a txt file with 50 lines, and I generate a full package of all possible combinations 880,000 (UK Daily Play 27/7).

I want to filter such that every line of the 50 lines is checked against the full package and leaves only tickets that match 1,2 or 3 numbers in each of the 50 lines in the file.

I can do this manually with the Match Numbers filter, putting in the numbers for each line, and filtering for match 1,2, or 3 (leave). This works well and leaves me with about 60,000 + tickets. But this method is cumbersome and time consuming

When I try and automate this and use the match file filter, choosing the txt file and Match 1,2,3 (leave), I have alot more tickets left in the package - about 700,000+

Why are these 2 methods giving different results and how can I do this easily ?

thanks,
Sliver

try setting min value to 50 on 'match 1,2,3' rows

Hi Sliver,

I hope in match File filter, its using OR conditions. but when do it in match Number filter, then its working in AND condition.

Try this,
Create a compound filter and first add match 1 alone and match 2 alone and match 3 alone (load the same text file in each filter) . save them in AND condition. and Run this compound filter, see the result.

Hi Joe,

thanks for the suggestion, just tried it, - when I use a compound filter with the AND operator, it filters just about 200 tickets out of 880,000 tickets...I just can't figure out why this doesn't work :wand:

Does anyone out there have an idea how to make this work ?

Hi sliver,

In compound Filter, jus modify your operator to OR, and set the Min value to 50 in each part of that compound filter.
Hope this will work.

Hi Joe,

I've attached the file with 50 lines. I know that each line in this file matches the winning number in 1,2 or 3 numbers. So I would like to filter the complete set of tickets 880,000 for the UK daily play to leave only tickets that match each of these 50 lines in 1,2 or 3 numbers.

It works very well using match numbers filter, but I just need it to work using match file filter because this is alot easier.

thanks alot for your help

hi Sliver,

Sorry, Its not working for me too in Match File Filter.
We get number of combinations reduced when we increase the Min value in all settings.
stan used some calculations but I couldn't get how this match File filter woks with loaded file.
Is it taking Line counts or Number counts in Min and Max settings?.

Still confused.

i tried your file and all tickets are indeed filtered out. how does your condition for 'match numbers' filter look like? there might be some misunderstanding of what you actually want to achieve. i'm not sure there are any tickets that match all the lines from the filter file in *exactly* three numbers only.

yeah me too mis-understood how to work with match File filter.
but I am getting different set of combinations when I work with Match File filter and Match Numbers.
I created group filter with each lines in match Numbers-> Leave, and set min 15 to max 25 -->leave.
and when I do the same in match file filter-> Match 1 Min 15 and Max 25-> leave,
both giving different set of combinations. why?
Am I making any mistake?.
