Numbering of complex filters

Numbering of complex filters

Postby niceguy » Mon Aug 11, 2025 12:10 pm

Hi Stan & Everyone.
Just wanting to know if there is any way we can number each filter within complex filters. Some of my complex filters (using match number filters), have a 1000 or more filters in them which are copied & pasted from a custom analyzer. It would be great to be able to easily cross reference the filters between the custom analyzer & the complex filter, which is often hard to do as the complex filters do not have numbers next to them. e.g. If I have a custom analyzer with 1000 match number filters in it, which has been copied & pasted into a complex filter I want to be able to look at complex filter number 625 in the analyzer & easily find the same filter in my complex filter, but because filters in complex filters are not numbered, this would be hard to find.
Many thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

To follow(cross reference) the custom analyzer numerical order, I use the "Notes" column in the complex filter and number each filter as needed(FYI, I'm using EL 5).

Hi tdnl46w
Many thanks for that. Just what I wanted. Also thought there might be a way of somehow numbering the filters in the complex filter automatically to save having to manually number each filter. (Some of my complex filters have quite a few hundred filters in them). Meantime, I will use your suggested system. I really appreciate your help.

Np. :) There isn't any automatic way that I know of, and I've had to do this several times, so yes it can be a pain to enter that many numbers. If I find a different/better way or suggestion, I'll let you know.

:D Great once again I really appreciate your help.
Just wondered if Stan would be able to update the program to accommodate automatically filling in numbers on complex filters? (i.e. if its not a big time consuming upgrade? )
