i got that value as a standard deviation of a set of numbers 1 to 53. i used a spreadsheet processor to calculate it and 'verified' it by calculating it by hand using mathematical formulas found on the web.
i haven't actually tried it but i think calculating the standard deviation for each combination of 5 numbers out of 53 then the average value of the partial deviations should yield 15.44 as well. i could be wrong though, it's been some time since my math lessons.
maybe we could also extend expert lotto's stats to calculate the average, min and max standard deviations for the past XX draws and the new filter would remove all tickets outside the given standard deviation range.
on the other hand the existing
ticket number range filter does that as well. it allows controlling how 'close' and/or how 'far' the numbers in each ticket should be. so it can be used to filter out combinations as 1,2,3,4,5 or 49,50,51,52,53 as well as 1,2,3,4,53 or 1,50,51,52,53
or am i completely wrong because you meant something else? :vogel:
