Package name

Postby hexagonvex » Sat Nov 05, 2005 1:16 pm

Hi Stan,

Would it be possible to add he name of the package the user is currently working on.

Reason is that if you're working with a few packages for further filtering you (at least I managed to mess up a few times with naming) may mess up naming them correctly.

Thank you for eventually considering.

Greetings

the problem is that the package contents doesn't always translate to a single file.
would it help if the application displayed the name of the file that was last loaded into the package (or the name of the file the package was saved to) in its status bar or title bar?

Hi Stan,

Yes you're right, when you generate a new package then there's basically no file name.

On the other hand with your suggestion what would happen if you load a package named 1111.XXX then filter some stuff out and save it under the name 1111_reduced.XXX? What would the title bar or status bar display in that case?

What do other users think??....I wouldn't want to see something implemented when I am the only user who sees an utility in having it.

Have a nice weekend....

well, my suggestion is:

- generate a new package: no name displayed
(apply some filters)
- save the package to a file: display the name of the file
(apply some other filters)
- save the package to a different file: display the new name of the file
- load a file to the package: display the name of the loaded file
(apply some filters)
- save the package a new file: display the name of the saved file
etc...

so the status bar would always show the name of the file that was used in the last open/save package action.

* the sums table in the wn history filter window reacts to focus changes so you can input your sum values faster
* almost all tables support "ctrl+c" to copy their contents to clipboard (and then you can paste it to e.g. ms excel). just click any table and press 'ctrl+c'. the tables that do *not* support this are: package table and package visual table and winning numbers visual table. all other tables should react to ctrl+c key. let me know if i forgot to add copy&paste to any other table.
* you can paste (ctrl+v) sum values to wn history sums filter from e.g. ms excel

Hi Stan,

For me I would agree on your display package names suggestions.

And thank you for the copy/paste feature. I wouldn't have requested that but will surely use it. :-D

Greets.

P.S. Did you find out anything on the compound-filter-position-filter-mac-problem?

no, not yet. i have to borrow a mac laptop somewhere first. i'll let you know when (if) i fix it.

btw, is it just position filters or other sub-menu filters (wn history, compound or group ones) that are not working?

Hi Stan,

It is every submenu filter that cannot be added to a compound filter.

My system runs 10.4.3 (all updates installed).
