Did you receive my E-mail I replied to you on last Wednesday?

No... I will have to check my spam box. I have strict rules setup and I am sure it is in the spam box.

Could you give me some instructions about my PC shopping as below:

1) You told me that:"If you get a PC-based quad-core make sure you get it with 64bit Vista Ultimate or lower... Do not get the home edition of Vista as it is missing some of the better library files. Note if you get 64bit some of your older programs will not load or work correctly."
Could you let me know which of the better library files will be missed if I get a new PC-based quad-core in detail? Also, if 64bit doesn't support the V4
of EL, which bit should do? If I order a new PC with two-core instead of quad-core, is everything OK?

Two cores are better... But from your questions I think it might be best for you to select a ready made machine where all you will have to do is turn it on and play.

2) I'm still not clear that:"You will have to play with them to find a good number for your machine." What's the good number and how can I find it for my new PC?

Again, I am talking about RAM here but I strongly suggest that you get a PC that is ready made. Meaning all the configurations are done for you.

3) Could you recommend a new PC which not only is good for V4 of EL now but for V5 in the future? I could recommend all day but your budget will be the one to dictate what strength of PC you will be getting.

Try www.newegg.com and look at some configurations based on your budget and post what you come up with and I will help you with your selection.

Thanks,
CSenior

Lottoboy,

Start here by clicking on the following link --> newegg.com. When you get to that website look on the left and click on the price range that fits your budget. All of those machine are ready made and operate without additional configurations. These configurations are done by the manufacturer.

As you make several selections please post links to the individual machine pages so I can look at them.

Thanks,

CSenior,

I have visited the NEWEGG just now but only laptop. I want to order a desktop PC. My budget is $500-$1000. It's fine if it works fast and well for V4 and V5. How about Dell desktop PC?

Dell is good also... You can start there and pick a basic machine and post your selections here.

OK, I will, but almost the current PCs are set by Home Vista and 64bit, 4GB of RAM... I'm afraid that V4 will not work by using the new PC above since I still not sure your means:"as it is missing some of the better library files. Note if you get 64bit some of your older programs will not load or work correctly." Could you give me a direct advise about it? Thanks.

Lottoboy,

EL V4 will work on a 64bit with Vista Ultimate as I am currently running EL everyday.

For you to feel good about your selection, look for a machine with Windows XP on it (skip Vista) since they are beta testing Windows 7 which is the new Operating System that will be released to the public soon. Just try to get a configuration that offers an upgrade coupon for free.

Thanks,

Lottoboy,

That is a good price and good selection. If you feel comfortable with it please proceed with your purchase. Please note that your selection has only 2 cores instead of 4 cores. Memory, Ram, and Hard drive is acceptable.

Thanks,

CSenior,

Thanks for your sincere help!!!
I tried to find Vista Ultimate and WinXP recently:

I have to pay extra money about $120 for Ultimate and double prize for XP since Microsoft's policy is that you will also get Vista on a DVD in that package. So I have to paying for that also.

But I'm not sure why V4 of EL doesn't support the Home of Vista which is very very popular OS in current PC world.

Hi, CSenior:

Thanks for your sincere advise!!!

I will order it asap now. But I want to confirm again before I checking out:
The V4 of EL just doesn't support PCs with quad-core and works very well for double core even with 64bit/Home of Vista/3-4GB of RAM and 500 GB HD...etc. Also, V5 of EL is no problem too for the 2-core PC. In other words,
I can use the machine above immediately once I download V4 Program from my old PC and don't need to change anything. Also, I should not miss anything from the better library files and my older EL program should be loaded and work correctly by using the 64bit OS in my new two core PC. Is it correct? Thanks.

Lottoboy,

No one said V4 will not run on Vista home. It is just that I have not tested V4 on it. The reason I picked Ultimate is that in the past Windows always segregated there operating systems making two, one for home and one for business. Following there prior models Vista Business and Ultimate seem to be almost the same, while Home Basic and Home Premium seem to be the same.

Thanks,

But which version bit of PC should be much better performance for V4/V5
