Sum Distriubution Charts and Table

Postby Howard » Sat Mar 01, 2008 3:01 pm

I am not a mathmatician so this query takes me only as far as common sense will take me are there any static charts out there which demonstrates the possible sum distribution for 5/40 and 5/56 games.
For example in the 6/49 game the lowest possible sum is 21 while the highest possible sum is 299 that meand there are 278 possible sums. I suppose that the closer the sums come to the Min/Max sum the fewer the combinations there are that will return a particular sum.

At the same time, I should imagine sums closer to the midpoint between the Min/Max for example 139 can be reached many different combinations of numbers within a6/49 database. (E.g. the sum 139 can be reached by ??? combinations or 139/???) Like I said though I am not a mathematician and moreover do not want to do the math. Hence, my request has anyone out there done the Math for the 6/49, 5/40 or 5/56 games? If so please share.

Also as far as this program is concerned is their a graph or chart that demonstrates how often any given sum is ACTUALLY being returned. If so, please advise as to where. Again thanks.

there's no such chart in expert lotto. besides the distribution will change with every draw.

but you can export package stats and then calculate the char in excel for example

Howard to find the sum distriubution for the games you are intrested in select the game like Mega Millions 5/56, load a full package and in the Statistics page Calculate stats for Tickets in the package and click on Calaulate Stats button. After the stats are calculated, Show Stats for: sums will show all of the possible sums for the game and how many combinations there are for each sum. The Statistics page will give you all of the static information odd/even, low/high, sums range and amount of combinations per sum.

The thing about looking up the stats for a full package for jackpot type games such as a 6/49 13,983,816 total combinations or a Mega Millions 5/56 not including the Mega ball the calculation time will be quite long so one you do the calculations I would save the static results for future reference so that you won't ever have to run them again.

The sum values of the WN History are not the same as the combination sums of the actual drawn numbers. Where as the drawn numbers 6, 17, 22, 25, 35, 47 have a combination sum value of 152, this has nothing to do with the column sum values in the WN History.

Actually, the max sum is 279, not 299 (49+48+47+46+45+44).
