Winning Numbers History Segment Combinations Filter

Winning Numbers History Segment Combinations Filter

The Segment combinations Filter is a really neat tool as it has some amazing potential if some creative thought is put into how you use it. The best setting for this filter is Column: Any. Build a group or compound filter using Segment Combinations by first leaving all of the columns 0 thru -10 checked and starting with the first segment and the At Least _ to _ columns must pass checked and do a back test changing the At least _ to _ values until you find a good optimum setting and save to your group or compound filter, do the same for each and every segment separately, one at a time. It takes some time to build but it will be worth it.

Now, for the creative part, follow the same procedure as above but this time breakup the 11 columns into a smaller group. Be sure to make the group the same for each and every segment and work only one segment at a time. Make as many small groups of columns as you can and save to a group filter or compound filter. This will knock down the amount of combinations considerably and retain the jackpot combination for most draws. It still leaves more combinations than you can afford to play but you still have the other filters to work with.

I suggest making as many different column groups as possible until the filter no longer removes any combinations from the package. The building process takes a lot of time and I built each group separately in a compound filter and then placed them all into one group filter. The filtering will be slow as there will be a lot for EL to look at but it will be worth it.

Update, find the Segment Default settings that produce the most segments and fewer repeating segments throughout the 11 columns.

After testing this idea for a few days it seems that using the Segment Combinations filter is best for removing the past segment combinations over leaving combinations that have been drawn in the past. Removing the past combinations doesn't remove very many combinations from a full package but may help some after other filters and strategies have been used and left more than an affordable amount of combinations for play.

Hi alland, the idea seemed good to me at first thought but when I tested it on live drawings I found that it missed the jackpot and second prize combinations every time. After each drawing I looked to see where the strategy failed and would adjust the segments that failed by changing the At least _ to _ columns must pass until the filter would produce a jackpot combination for the last drawing. After a couple days I realized that I was looking at this all wrong and tried the filter in Remove instead of Leave in the next drawing and it did leave the jackpot combinations. The problem with the Remove setting is that it doesn't remove as many combinations as the Leave setting but, it does leave the jackpot combination.

Anyone intrested in testing out how long a plugin designed around Tax's idea would take to run working a 6/49, build and run this filter on a 6/49. This is one of those start it and go to bed filters it can and will run for hours.

Padawan,
I did one in Excel and never did complete it because of the running time. I created a formula that counted the number of Package tickets using Columns O thru -4. using Col O as the base and Col's -1 thru 4 created 194,487 combinations. It took 6 hours just for 1 column. Here's a screenshot of a partial sheet.

They are suggest that you create a Table with the Segments. It might calc faster. I'm trying to learn how to create tables, I know nothing about them. If you have any ideas on how to do this, please let me know.

I haven't done any complex Excel calculations in years and I try yo keep it all as simple as possible. I'm not sure what you are looking for here, I assume you are trying to find how many combinations can be created using all of the segments within the first 5 columns. I'm no mathematician but I believe that there is a better way to find how many combinations can be made from a number of segments within 5 columns. It should be simular to the formula used to calculate the amount of combinations in a 6/49 or a 5/39 lotto game, the only difference would be the fact of the possibility of 0 to 5 repeating segments.

My thinking was limiting the 11 columns segment patterns past history to find the most likely patterns to use but, I found that past drawn patterns are unlikely to repeat as the WNH changes every drawing. Finding the best segment patterns may not be that easy as they are affected by the next drawing and can and will change every draw.

When making these calulations that you working with one thought comes to my mind is do you need to consider the Segment Defaults used? The Segment Default settings could affect the outcome of the amount of combinations possible within columns 0 thru -4, -5, or what ever.

I was trying to find the number of tickets for each combination in the full package. For example, if Col 0 had 032 , how many tickets was in the package for each combination.

COL -1,-2,-3,-4 032

Wouldn't that change every drawing?

That's not all the combinations!! I think that's what Tax was suggesting in his post, for a filter that would allow you to input a Segment combination and find, how many were in the Package before any filtering.

Yes, the number of ticklets left by any one combination could or would possibly change every day, but not the Segment combinations.

Looking at all of the possibles including the unlikely combinations and the past drawn segment patterns may be a waste of time. Like I said, so far I'm finding that past drawn segment patterns tend not to repeat within the 11 columns. Maybe we should look for repeating segment patterns within the first 4 to 5 columns to see if there are very many if any repeats.

HELP!!!!

Postby lottoboy » Mon Sep 15, 2008 4:25 am

Hi, Stan and all:

Why my Segment Combination Filter in WNH doesn't work and its item of "at least x to x must pass" is gray always? I play single segment only instead combinations now. There should be a bug here. How can I resolve the problem? Thanks.

Best,
lb

that option is enabled only when 'any column' is selected in the combo box. it doesn't make sense for a single column...
