Working on Ball Street trading Numbers!!

Postby MartinMan » Mon Dec 18, 2006 6:58 pm

Hello TheNotch,

I also was a trader, though I traded Futures, and I also have been thinking
of using some of my charting packages and indicators to enhance EL.

My questions are: Are you sure you didn't mean to write different time periods for your MA's?

If you have 10 years of data, a 12 month MA would only have 10 data values
to show. A 6 month would only show 20 values. It would be very hard to get
anything out of them. They would basically be short lines.

Also how did you solve the problem of more days in some months for more values in some months than in others?

Regards

Dude...
Sorry, my verbology was a bit off with respect to time/periods.

A 5-day simple moving average is calculated by adding the closing prices for the last 5 days and dividing the total by 5.
The calculation is repeated for every day using that days closing price and the previous 4 days. The averages are then joined to form a smooth curving line - the moving average line.

There are 105 draws over 12 months for the lottery I play, I've considered each draw a day. So I would have to say I am actually using a 105 day, and 52.5 day moving averages......both with very long lines!

I don't know if the person who started this post will see this, but I wanted to say that you are a genius.
I used the Bollinger bands (adjusted them slightly) and with some tweaking was able to average an 80% win rate in terms of cash. It's nice to know with the right tools you can go from 1/300 to 4/5 in terms of cash return. (Pick 3)

I have not only tracked and used this for one year, I have done historical research for multiple states pick 3. The results are repeatable.

Thank you for starting this thread.
