64Bit Java

64Bit Java

Postby Falcon » Thu Aug 28, 2014 1:06 pm

Hi Stan,

Appreciate some advice please.

My operating System is WIN 8.1 64 bit and then I have java running at 32bit - I have another program that requires 32bit Java - and of course EL5 works well in this environment.

However under 32bit Java I cannot access more than 32mb of memory and I wish to raise this to higher level. So I have just downloaded and installed a 64bit version of Java but EL5 will not run at all -doesn't get past the first EL5 splash screen.
(Uninstalled the 64bit java and EL5 works perfectly again - thank goodness Phew)

So two questions -

is there anything in a config file I can update to to enable EL5 to work with the 64bit Java, or do I need to uninstall EL5 and then reinstall it within the Java 64bit environment?

Many thanks

Thanks Moti,

Yes I have been in there - it relates to upgrading memory etc but this is only if you already have Java 64 bit installed.

I think I am going to have to re install EL5 in a Java 64 bit environment but this I am trying to avoid if I can.

Hello Falcon, why don’t you backup of all your lotteries and save them, uninstall & than reinstall EL5 extract all your lottery files to get back all your data, without any loss of datas and settings.

You don't need to reinstall anything. You can have 32-bit and 64-bit Java runtimes installed side-by-side.
You can either start the application with "--jdkhome <path to 64-bit Java runtime>" command line switch. Or you can edit file <expert lotto install path>\etc\expertlotto.conf and add line
jdkhome=<path to 64-bit Java runtime>
