Problem saving filters

Problem saving filters

Postby Trust » Mon Jun 27, 2005 6:09 pm

Hi!
Recently i was making a group filter with a lot of "match numbers"
inputs-then i observed that expertlottos user windows seemed to respond
more slowly for each filter i saved to the database.

Suddenly the program freezed while saving a filter,so i had to shut it down with the task manager-the result was of course that the filter database now was empty.
Could this be a memory problem? This happened twice, but now i had a backup of the filter map.
The problem seems to occure only when making lot of single filters for
a compound/group.
Anyway it could be nice if the program could autobackup the filterdatabase
by itself?

I was making a "match numbers" filter of all rows in the history
differences - so about 10 rows in each column x 11 columns if
you put them in a group.

i tried a compound filter with 100+ parts and it was working fine for me.
it shouldn't be a memory related problem (unless there's a very nasty memory leak in the application that i don't know about).

can you please create such a big filter again and email it to me? thanks.

I still have problems with saving /updating filters-i noticed that
the javaw.exe file is growing bigger for each time i save to the
database. When it reaches a size of 95000 to 98000kb the program
freeze. Is this maybe related to the problem?

i'm still investigating this problem. there's no fix for it in the latest release.

one solution could be to have a separate set of filters for each lottery to save on memory and load/save time. but maybe i'll come up with something better.

OK
BTW i found out that it helps a lot to not have a big package
loaded while i update /save large filters.

i have a database of over 70 filters that have many sub-filters and still have no problems saving it to disk when adding new filters.

there's a better visual feedback in the latest build so you should see how the filters are saved.

i also strongly recommend running expert lotto with the '-server' switch. the first time i save my filters it takes about 3 seconds, second time only one second, third time is almost instantenous.
you will get a major speed up in other application's functions. search this forum for '-server' for more details.

the problem is that application's online update does not download new executables that have this switch built in. maybe you can download the complete installation package, make a new installation to a special directory and then copy .exe file to your current expert lotto installation.
