Suggestion for new filter

Suggestion for new filter

Postby Trust » Fri Dec 24, 2004 2:13 am

I have a suggestion for a new filter :Movement filter
Description:The movements(variances) in each number
position from a draw to the next draw.
Example : 6 12 20 30 38 42
Next draw : 4 18 28 35 40 41
=Movements:-2 6 8 5 2 -1
Make a filter to set limits on the differences on each draw position
and the total sum of the diffences as well.
This filter has some similarities with your winning number filter.
I wish you can make a filter like this.

New filter suggestion

Thanks. In order to include your filter in our TODO list we must decide at first about its usefulness etc. (possible margins for each position, meaning of sum, comparison with meaning of other filters etc.). Btw, what you mean with the "total sum of differneces" . Is it sum of absolute values regardless the difference direction (minus, plus) ?
In addition , the numbers in your example are sorted , but in case of real draw the drawn numbers are unsorted what significantly affects the resulting difference for each position.

New filter

The only lottery software that i know has this particilar
"movement filter" is Lottery Director -so this is the origin of
this filter.Regarding use of sorted or unsorted draws i think it is best
to use sorted draws-simply because statistics or results with unsorted
draws are not available or hard to find for most of the countries.
The differences would probably be larger in a unsorted draw as well?
Regarding the sum value :I am not a mathematician but i suppose we must use the sums that returns the true sum,(-5 +-5=-10)and so on.
I do not understand the purpose of adding the sums disregarding any
negative factor if that was what you meant?

is this filter supposed to compare tickets with the latest winning numbers only or with e.g. 10 latest draws?

i'm not 100% convinced of the 'value' of this filter. ;-) so we'll probably provide it as an optional downloadable plugin. and i guess some 'number movement' statistics would be useful as well to see if there are any patterns or dependencies.

This is a screen shot from the statistics of number movements in
my lottery.I cant tell you the value of such a filter for all sort of
lotteries-but if you take a look at the statistics above, you hopefully
will understand why i want it.
This filter operates from 1 draw to the next yes,but there is of course no lawthat says it can be developed to operate over a user defined period maybe?
I suggest an option to specify minimum and maximum ranges in any
set of positions-the best will likely be to split the positions in several
groups.(Allow or demand min.range to max. range in min.positions
to max number of positions AND set another limit for the rest of the
positions)And of course an option to set limits on the total sum as well.

ok, the filter window should probably look similar to the wn history filter window. i.e. a table with rows for each ticket number position and columns allowing to set the min and max values for the particular position.

i'll add it to our todo list. but it may take some time before it appears in expert lotto as i'm the only developer in our team. ;-)
