Number Distance Filter

Number Distance Filter

Postby Falcon » Wed Mar 26, 2008 11:05 am

Attempting to use the Number Distance Filter to apply some pre filtering to a full ticket package to remove some unlikely to occur number sets in the tickets - but not having much luck.

Thus trying to remove tickets like 2,4,6,8,10,12 or 5,10,15,20,25,30 or 7,14,21,28,35,42. And then to remove number sets like 10,11,12,13, x,y ie any 4 numbers in a row or more, but not less ie any 3 numbers is a row would be retained.

Perhaps this needs to be achieved in a more than one pass - would appreciate any advice please.

(I presume I am using the correct filter to try to achieve this.)

many thanks

Falcon,

You can use Number Distance filter for your first 3 examples of tickets.

For 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 the setting: 5 to 5 neighboring posiitions, distances 2 to 2.
For 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 the setting: 5 to 5 neighboring positions, distances 5 to 5.
For 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42 the setting: 5 to 5 neigboring positions, distances 7 to 7.

You can use Match Numbers filter and get the same results. Match Numbers filter can be used many times and you can build with it a compound filter.

To remove combinations with 4 or more consecutive numbers, use Successive Numbers filter (option 3 inside).

The Number Distance filter would be more versatile and more powerful if there was a possibility of specifying in it from 0 to 5 neighbouring positions instead of 1 to 5. Some time ago I suggested to Stan that such improvement should be made.
